Highest RTP slots: the best-paying online slots and how to check them

Return to player (RTP) is the share of all money bet that a slot pays back over millions of spins. A higher RTP doesn't make you more likely to win today, but it lowers what you lose on average over time.

Highest RTP published by each studio. Casinos may run lower-RTP versions, and game availability varies by casino and country. Averages are long-run figures; any single session can be far better or worse.

The catch: one slot, several RTPs

Many studios release the same slot in several versions, for example 96.5%, 94% and 92%, and the casino chooses which to offer. The game looks identical either way. Book of Dead is a well-known example, with versions well below its top figure.

How to check the RTP you're playing

  1. Open the slot in real or demo mode.
  2. Open the info, paytable or "i" menu.
  3. Look for "theoretical return to player" or "RTP". Some games show it in the game rules text near the bottom.
  4. If two casinos show different figures for the same slot, the higher one costs you less per spin.

RTP vs volatility

RTP sets the long-run cost. Volatility sets the ride. Blood Suckers pays small wins often, so a $50 session lasts. Gates of Olympus is built around rare, large multipliers, so long dry spells are normal even with a similar RTP. Match volatility to your budget, and read our RTP and volatility guide for the maths.

Do high-RTP slots help with bonuses?

They would, which is why casinos often exclude them. Bonus terms commonly list high-RTP and low-volatility games as excluded or reduced-weight. Check the excluded games list before you use one to clear a wagering requirement.

FAQ

Which slot has the highest RTP?

Among widely available slots, Ugga Bugga (Playtech, 99.07%) and Book of 99 (Relax Gaming, 99%) have the highest published figures. Your casino may run a lower version.

Does a 98% RTP slot mean I'll get 98% back?

Only on average over a very large number of spins. In a single session you can lose everything or win far more.

Are high-RTP slots allowed with bonuses?

Often not. Many casinos exclude high-RTP slots from bonus wagering or count them at a reduced rate. Check the bonus terms.
